We want to work in a way that reduces stigma and is trauma-informed. How has stigma impacted you or the people that you work with?

Stigma slows people down when they are needing a bit of help. We want to break down the barriers preventing people from reaching out to our services, and operate in a way that acknowledges the experiences that people have had.

  • Younger women we are trying to reach already subject to health inequality and feel they don't fit in at our groups with older mothers. We also see a lot of mothers who have had traumatic births, and traumatic breastfeeding experiences and are more subject to post natal depression due to these issues. The stigma of choosing to breastfeed or not being able to is a real issue due to our dominate bottle feeding community this has signifcant impact on mental health going forward.
